Structure Destroyed in Morning Blaze

Swan Hill CFA Captain Dennis Turner has praised site staff for their quick thinking, following a structural blaze at the Hilltop Resort in Tyntynder South this morning.

Calls were made for emergency services just prior to 10am, after reports a blaze had erupted in the back corner of the resort.

Five CFA appliances were called to the scene, and arrived to find the structure fully engulfed with flames. The structure was brought under control within 45 minutes.

No one was present in any of the conjoining buildings at the time, and with the help of staff, occupants at the resort were safely evacuated while the gas and power were cut.

Fire investigators were called to the scene, however Cpt. Turner believes it'll be a difficult task to figure out what the cause was, considering the level of damage done.

VicEmergency released an Advice level warning at 10:05am, advising nearby locals that smoke would be visible from the blaze.

The message was downgraded 40 minutes later.
