CFA Quickly Control Threatening Fire North of Patchewollock
The CFA have sprung into action to quickly contain a fire which threatened Patchewollock just prior to midday today.
VicEmergency issued a Watch and Act message at 11:47am stating a grassfire, which CFA District 18 believe was started by a header in a paddock, was traveling in a southerly direction towards Patchewollock-Sea Lake Road.
CFA District 18 have confirmed eight tankers and two aircraft from Ouyen responded to the grassfire, containing the blaze in approximately half an hour.
An advice issue was then sent out by VicEmergency at 12:04pm, confirming the situation was under control by local responders.
Firefighters will remain on scene for the next few hours.
No estimates of potential damage or costs from the fire have been released, with the exact size of the fire also unknown at this point.
The scare marks the first Watch and Act message within the Mallee region for the season, without coincidence occurring on the first Total Fire Ban of the new season as well.
CFA Media have been contacted for further comment.
More to come.
