Police arrests in Swan Hill

Swan Hill Police have made a variety of arrests over the past few weeks.

In the arrests, police spoke with a 50-year-old male who was found to be in possession of cannabis. He was arrested, charged and bailed to appear in court.

In addition, a 32-year-old female was arrested and charged with methamphetamine possession and driving offences.

Furthermore, a 27-year-old female was intercepted and underwent an oral fluid test. They were found to be drug impaired driving with methamphetamine and cannabis. She has been arrested and charged.

Superannuation changes announced

Local workers and residents are being warned about upcoming changes to superannuation which may impact their insurance cover.

Under the reforms which come into effect on July 1, the tax office will have the power to consolidate inactive super accounts with balances below $6,000.

Suzie Brown from Integrity Life says people with insurance inside those superannuation accounts could find it cancelled, unless they take action now.

Regional parents more relaxed about issues

Data suggests that parents in the Mallee are slightly more relaxed than their city counterparts when it comes to the challenges facing today's kids.

More than 1,000 parents took part in a national survey and in most cases those in regional areas were less concerned about issues like obesity, alcohol and drugs.

Overall, Kellie Sloane from Life Education says most parents believe today's kids have it tougher, compared to when they were at school.

Game On: Men's Health Night

Swan Hill Town Hall will be hosting the Game On: Men's Health Night tonight.

The event will allow attendees to learn practical ways on how healthy lifestyles can improve mental health, heart health and reduce the risk of cancer.

Mental health advocate and Beyond Blue ambassador Tony McManus will be speaking at the event. In addition to local health professionals and local men on their health journeys.

Central Murray Netball League Round Seven review

Lake Boga has got their first victory of the Central Murray Netball League Season, taking a 48 - 45 victory over Nyah Nyah West United at the weekend.

After falling behind early in the first quarter, Lake Boga managed to hold a very tight lead through the major breaks, eventually holding on and coming out three goal victors.

With the win, Lake Boga are in tenth position with a 1-6 record. Nyah Nyah West United are a position above them in ninth also with a 1-6 record, but slightly ahead on percentage.

In other results, Kerang got a victory over Koondrook Barham 53 - 40, Tooleybuc Manangtang defeated Cohuna Kangas 84 - 27, Tyntynder fell to Swan Hill 51 - 24 and Woorinen defeated Balranald 78 - 33.

Kerang Women's Football preview / June Racing Carnival

Following a bye week for the Kerang Women's Football Club, they will be looking towards their next opponents in Rumbalara in Round 9.

Currently Kerang are in seventh position with a 2 - 5 record this season. Rumbalara are in fourth with a 4 wins and 4 losses.

In other upcoming fixtures, Shepparton will face Euchuca, Mooroopna will take on Benalla Saints and Nathalia and Tatura will face off.

In other news for the club, the new change rooms at Riverside Park which is home to the side, is reportedly going to be completed by August this year.

Elsewhere, in June Carnival Racing results, local jockey Jye McNeil had a productive weekend.

NcNeil finished second in the VOBIS Gold Elvstroem Classic aboard 'Spirit Medium' and just missed out aboard 'Well Sprung' in the Pooles Accountants Golden Topaz finishing fourth.
