The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design announced award winners last month, with the $2 million wharf project recognised alongside building and public spaces located throughout the globe.

The project architects, Terroir will be presented with the award during a ceremony in Athens, Greece in September.

This is the fourth award the project has received, after claiming three categories in the Victorian Architecture Awards.

Opened in 2016, the Koondrook Wharf celebrates the town’s links to the Murray River and the paddle steamer industry.

Mayor Lorraine Learmonth of the Gannawarra Shire Council congratulated Terroir on the accolade;

“With work to start on the Koondrook Nature Based Tourism Hub this financial year and Stage 3 of the Koondrook CBD Redevelopment soon to begin, the popularity of the Koondrook Wharf will continue to grow.

“Council congratulates Terroir on the accolade, which is a credit to all who were involved in the project.”
