Local Support For Fire Effected Communities

Australia's unprecedented fire crisis is bringing out the best in our local heroes, with members from North West VICSES, and CFA District 18 and 20 supporting the fire agencies around the state.

Putting their day jobs on hold, and leaving family and friends at home, we're reminded of the sacrifice and community effort that goes into being an Emergency Service volunteer.

According to North West VICSES Operations Manager David Goldfinch, 27 volunteers in the region have been deployed to Tallangatta, Mallacoota, and surrounds, clearing road ways of debris, helping locals to safely evacuate and to set up and manage base-camps.

CFA District 18 currently have 16 volunteers supporting the Gippsland Fires, protecting and preserving lives, property and animals. The North West Strike Team was formed by combining both District 18 and District 20 volunteers.
