The Sampson's Bridge replacement project and Koondrook CBD works have been completed, opening last week.

The bridge project, spanning Pyramid Creek brought in a dual-lane concrete structure and will benefit motorists travelling between Kerang and Leitchville.

A reduced speed limit of 40 kilometres per hour remains in place on either side of the bridge for the time being.

According to the Gannawarra Shire Council, due to the road being used to transport heavier loads than in the past, a new structure needed to be installed.

The bridge replacement works were supported by over $450,000 from the Federal Government’s Bridges Renewal Program.

The CBD project realigned a section of Main Street, marking the end of four months of works that aims to provide better links between the town’s CBD and Koondrook Wharf-Apex Park precinct.

The second stage of the CBD redevelopment followed on from the upgrading of kerb and channel along Arbuthnot and Main streets, completed earlier this year.

The first two stages of the Koondrook CBD redevelopment were made possible thanks to funding from the Regional Roads Victoria Fixing Country Roads program.

Mayor Lorraine Learmonth thanked residents and motorists for their patience as these works occurred.
