Owner and operator of the Kerang Motel Kristie Lavell says they found out soon after.

"Police contacted us and let us know that there had been an accident. [The driver] had reportedly come across the front of our nature strip and taken out our main support post."

"Luckily, it was nothing structural to the building."

The motel's trading was impacted whilst inspectors came to assess the structure, but Ms. Lavell says they've been able to get back up and running quickly.

"[Yesterday] obviously had a huge impact on us for trading."

"Thankfully, our local builders are fantastic. They came out this morning and took that section down, so part of the front verandah is missing at the moment, but we have full access back to our business."

Police are asking anyone who may have dashcam vision or CCTV of the incident to contact Kerang Police on (03) 5452 1955.
