Possible Covid Cases

Possible Covid Cases

Balranald Shire Council

Locals in the Balranald area are being urged to be super vigilant as there are unconfirmed reports there may be a possible covid case or two in the community...Balranald locals attended an event in Wilcannia that has spawned outbreaks in Dubbo, Broken Hill, Walgett and the Wilncannia region...

A testing Clinic is now at open at Greenham park which is normally the tennis building..

Balranald Shire, Director of infrastructure and development...Ray Davy..says for locals to get tested even with the slightest symptoms...

Mr Davy says " We need the community to be aware that we have unconfirmed reports and I need to emphasise they are unconfirmed reports that more than one member of our local community attended an event in Wilcannia which it is known that there are covid cases, with that event considered responsible for the spread of cases up into Walgett, Wilcannia, Dubbo and Broken Hill and we are obviously therefore on very high alert for the possibility that we may have at least the one positive case in Balranald".

My Message to the community is that they must be particularly vigilant, we have been very lucky so far in this part of the world, we've lived a pretty normal life where we've been far away from Sydney and Melbourne and those cases but it may well be coming home to roost here"

"Anyone in our community that shows the slightest, mildest symptoms of sniffles, cold like symptoms must go and get tested and isolate until they get a test result..we have relocated the testing clinic it is now at Greenham park, with access from We street, which is normally the tennis building"

We are also encouraging members of the community whether they have symptoms or not to get themselves tested".
