Positive response from the footballing community means the inaugural women's League is a goer for 2017.
8 clubs have already been provisionally accepted into the competition - Kerang - Benalla Saints - Bendigo Thunder - Echuca - Kyneton - Mooroopna - Northern Bendigo and Shepparton.
The clubs must lodge a preliminary list by the 1st of March to confirm their place in the League with a fixture to be prepared in the near future.
The comp will be managed by AFL Goulburn Murray with a committee of management representing the Goulburn Murray - Central Vic and Central Murray Commissions for governance and direction.
There's still time for other clubs to lodge a team but they must ba able to provide the preliminary list of players by March the 1st. It's envisaged they will be Sunday games with the flexibility of playing at other times depending on club's needs.
The name of the new League is yet to be determined providing a strong marketing opportunity for any business.
Kerang Football club has signed up half it's players for a new women's football team at a registration night at the clubrooms.
Others were unable to make the meeting but the club is confident of providing the full list of players by the 1st of March to participate in the inaugural competition for Northern Victoria.
People are welcome to join the committee as well.
